“Don’t You Have Room at Your Table for Just One More?”

“For my father and my mother have forsaken me, but the Lord will take me in.” (Psalm 27:10)

The bags are being packed early … just in case.  The travel arrangements have already been made.  Time off from work has already been approved.  What’s this all about?

Lord willing my wife of 50+ years, along with our oldest daughter, her husband and our youngest grandson, Levi, will be leaving Sunday evening.  Where are we headed?  We’re flying to greet our newest granddaughter when she takes her first breath!

We are so excited to bring her into our family and introduce her to the God of Heaven and earth … to the One who loves her … already knows her and cares for her!

Did I mention that she is being adopted just like her older brother?  As the Lord accepts us into His family through the process of spiritual adoption … these two little ones are being adopted into our family … and we are so thankful!

I truly admire my daughter and her husband for what they are doing!  They have chosen to make a difference in the lives of these two little ones … to bring them up in “the nurture and admonition of the Lord.”

Will there be sleepless nights … upset stomachs … fever … teething … crying …changing of endless diapers … changes in schedules … changes in clothing and shoe sizes … YEP!  And we can’t wait!  Those of us who have raised children so often lament how quickly the time passed and our little ones were grown and gone from home.

One little girl who had been adopted was asked the question, why should someone adopt?  Her response, “Don’t you have room at your table for just one more?” was quick, concise, and it touches the heart of those who hear it. Pause and think on that for just a moment, will you?

Not everyone can serve in the role of a parent.  Not everyone has the ability, the financial wherewithal to even consider making room at their table for just one more.  Some have probably never thought about it … maybe they should!

Sacred Selections is a non-profit organization that has done so much good in this small world we live in that it is almost beyond words to see what they have accomplished in ten short years … but accomplish much is what they have done with the help and support of so many, but most importantly with the help of the Lord!  I encourage you to go to their website:  https://www.sacredselections.org/

Their plea comes out for godly parents, “We need families.”  Last week alone, calls were received about 18 children that needed a home, but only 4 were matched.  This week already, calls were received about 9 more children.  There is a need, a need so great that it can seem overwhelming to consider. But consider this, where there is a need, and a desire, God will provide a way.

Next time you sit down at your table, look around … don’t you have room for just one more?

Please put forth the effort!  If you cannot adopt, please forward this to someone you know who can.
