Lest We Forget To Remember

Picture1

It was on the 29th of May in 2004 that America dedicated the National World War II Memorial in Washington, DC. It is intended to pay tribute to so many who served in this costly war. There is an inscription near a wall that honors those who were willing to give their lives for our freedom from Harry S. Truman. Just stop for a moment in this reading and reflect on it’s content: “Our debt to the heroic men and valiant women in the service of our country can never be repaid. They have earned our undying gratitude. America will never forget their sacrifices.”

As the people of God … a people who have been purchased by the precious blood of Jesus Christ that was shed for each one of us upon the ‘Old Rugged Cross’ … we have the need and even the command and responsibility to REMEMBER what He did! (Acts 20:28; Romans 5:8; 1 Corinthians 11:23-30 with emphasis on verse 26).

We’re entering the early stages when we traditionally travel more and play more! But we live 24/7 in a world that is only temporary. There is more to life than just living. We not only must take the time to reflect upon the sacrifices of others in all areas of our lives, but we must REMEMBER what the Lord has done! Make some time every day in your mind and heart to reflect with love, gratitude and the deepest of appreciation for what Jesus did for you and me … you will be glad you did!
