The Value of Stillness

“You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he  trusts in You.”  (Isaiah 26:3)

Busy … busy … busy!  Life is about being busy in so many ways.  Perhaps,  in too many ways.  Slowing down … pacing ourselves … not trying to do or accomplish so much.  All good advice, but I will be the first to admit I don’t always practice it.  How about yourself?

Don’t we all need to listen to what the Lord says and by the way says it often throughout the Bible, “Be still and know that I am God.”  Common slang and casualness in describing our great and loving God is not appropriate at any time, but especially as we speak of His perfection and sovereignty.  He is the great “I Am.”

Personally, I know that I need to be more deliberate in trusting Him who knows and sees all and less in my own inability to make everything better!  We could all use a big dose of “trying and striving” so much in our lives!

David and his people were being opposed by mighty nations who did not want to recognize much less serve the One, True and Living God!  The world we live in right now is in turmoil, unrest, meanness and immorality.

Take some time … make some time … today … and mull over in your mind the assurance offered in our passage.  Don’t force it … don’t be impatient … don’t be casual about it.  Let God do what He says He can and will do!

Have a great day “walking in the sunlight” of God’s perfect Word!
