No Wiggle Room …

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”  (Psalm 119:105)

Men have been notoriously labeled for being too proud to ask for directions … for help … for guidance, etc.  Some of this labeling MIGHT be true!

Every one of us needs direction and guidance as we travel through life … like it or not.  The wise among us recognize this truth and are willing to reach out for what is needed to travel safely … the unwise not so much!

Without the slightest hesitation I declare that Heaven is where I want to go.  Heaven is the final destination this pilgrim wants to experience for eternity.  After all, this is where the Lord and all His faithful are found.

Without the slightest hesitation I declare that the Bible is the “inspired Word of God” and that “it will provide all things that pertain unto life and godliness.” And because these truths are so the Bible is and should always be our only guide … the only road map that leads to Heaven.

Fear and fake news have caused many through the ages, but most noticeably in our generation, to stop or at least curtail to a great degree, a daily consult with God and seeking a better understanding of what He wants and expects of each of us as expressed in His divine Word.

There is just no wiggle room when it comes to the fact that we must be willing to surrender our will to His will.  When we try to find wiggle room, we will venture off of the path into the darkness and dangers that can cost us our soul!

The noble-minded Bereans of Acts 17:11 illustrate in a very clear way the personal responsibility of each of us has to measure the messages we hear from anyone … preachers. teachers, family, friends, co-workers … by the infallible standard of God’s Word!

There is no way that we can out-source our faith and trust in Jehovah God to someone else … no matter who that ‘someone else’ might be!  We will never be able to give to someone else that which we do not have ourselves.

Found in 2 Timothy 3:16, 17 are two fundamental statements that must be acknowledged to be so.  If they cannot be acknowledged then we have nothing on which to base our life and the directions we want to go.  God’s Word is just that … His Word.

We’ve all been made aware of the unbelievable loss of life and property from the recent hurricanes.  We have also been made aware of the results of those storms that follow the major event itself.  Dams and dikes have been caused to crack and even completely give way.

There is no wiggle room if we allow the sophistry of men, the disbelief of the worldly-wise to somehow explain away or boldly try to take away the infallibility and the inerrancy of the Word of God!  No wiggle room at all!

Our young are being fed a steady diet of disbelief and these false assertions are opening a crack in their hearts that can lead to their being lost for eternity!  And the same can be claimed with reference to each of us as well.  Are we listening?

So … when it comes to God’s Word we must hold on to it fearlessly, trust it implicitly … and follow it completely with no hint of trying to find wiggle room!  On the other hand … when it comes to people, we absolutely must learn to be more discerning!

“Rescue me and deliver me from the hand of foreigners, whose mouth speaks lying words, and whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood that our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; that our daughters may be as pillars, sculptured in palace style.”  (Psalm 144:11-12)
