Knowing The One Who Created These

“Lift up your eyes on high, And see who has created these things, Who brings out their host by number; He calls them all by name, By the greatness of His might And the strength of His power; Not one is missing.” (Isaiah 40:26, NKJV)

For a number of years, we had the wonderful opportunity to live out in West Texas.  Specifically, we lived in a small town south of Odessa, TX by the name of Crane!

The advantages of small-town living are too many to name at this time … but there is one that really stands out.  As one would drive south of town, you were able to see the lights of Fort Stockton, some 50 miles away.

But even more amazing was the overwhelming view of the numberless stars twinkling and showing off their presence.  With clarity, it would be possible to watch meteor showers and frequently observe the beauty of a falling star!

I find myself looking back at those times and realize how special they were.  I don’t know where you live … not sure you are able to see many stars … but I would encourage you to take a drive outside of the city limits and find a place where you can park your vehicle and just look up on a clear night.  Oh, you’ll be glad you did!

While serving as a shepherd over his father’s sheep herd, David would exclaim from the hillside, “The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork.  Day unto day utters speech, and night unto night reveals knowledge. There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard.” (Psalm 19:1-3)

Everyone … of every nation on this earth … can witness the creative and sustaining power of the Creator!  Yes, they “declare the glory of God” … not by words to tell their story … but by their very presence!  How you might ask?  The answer by faith is actually very simple:  Nothing is so perfect … anything so majestic and orderly … nothing so overwhelmingly awesome … could have happened by accident!

Even more humbling is the assurance that not only did He create each of the stars; He has also named each one! He counts each one!  Scientists with all of their advanced technology will affirm that it is just not possible to give the exact number … in the billions. Yet, our God knows!

And now for our takeaway thought for each of us to take to heart if we just will. This same God … “the Creator and Sustainer” of the entire universe … fashioned and made each of us!  We are different in appearance, in personalities,  likes, and dislikes … but we are alike in that we have been “made in His image!”

So many people … so many families … so many countries … and yet our Heavenly Father knows each one of us by name!  That’s right … “by name.” (Psalm 139:1-6)

We are not just numbers or faceless people, but are known of God by Him and loved by Him!

Each and every one of us needs to open our eyes, our ears, and our hearts and just LISTEN … to creation … to His Son … to His revealed will for mankind!  It is our privilege to be the very ones who can audibly, physically, consistently be the “light” in a dark and evil world!

  • Do YOU know Him?
  • Do YOU love Him?
  • Do YOU serve Him with “all of your heart, soul, and mind?”

Today … December 10, 2020 … is the day God has blessed each of us with to bear testimony of His presence, grace, mercy, and love!  Will you not tell each and all of these truths … by your life, your words, and your deeds!

“Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God!  How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!” (Romans 11:33, NKJV)
